2015 Le Creuset Cuppa For CANSA Competition & Launch Events

For the fourth consecutive year, Le Creuset committed to assisting CANSA with their Cuppa For CANSA campaign, inspiring people to gather friends and loved ones to share a friendly Cuppa, and raise awareness and resources for CANSA.

Le Creuset once again offered shopping sprees and gift cards for winning tea parties.

Competition Details & Prizes:

There were three categories for prizes consisting of a R5 000 Le Creuset voucher each.

Mint & Blueberry SmoothyThe categories were based on past entries and included:

  • the best community initiative
  • the most creative home tea party
  • the most moving message

Entrants had to submit images of their tea parties, along with a short description of what their tea party entailed online at www.lecreuset.co.za/cuppaforcansa

Alternatively entrants could submit by emailing cuppa@lecreuset.co.za

Entries had to be submitted between 15 September and 31 October 2015.

Le Creuset Grand Cuppa For CANSA Events

To launch this year’s campaign, Le Creuset hosted customer events at the country’s leading high tea establishments in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, where customers were treated to an inspirational cooking demonstration, a fantastic goody bag, American style auctions and could win many other lovely prizes.

A portion from the sale of the tickets was donated to CANSA.

Emperors Palace High Tea in Aid of Cuppa For CANSA

On Thursday afternoon, October 9th 2014, Emperors Palace hosted a Cuppa For CANSA High Tea at Aurelia’s Restaurant in the 5-star D’oreale Grande Hotel. Celebrity guests that attended were treated to a feast fit for a queen.

At the function CANSA’s Corporate Relationship Manager, Munnik Marais, announced that a percentage of monies raised from the High Tea’s held at Aurelia’s on Saturday afternoons during October, would be donated to CANSA.

Among the celebrities who attended the event – which gave those attending the opportunity to socialise and share stories about friends and loved ones who have been effected by cancer and to raise funds for CANSA – was award-winning sport presenter, Carol Tshabalala; actress and television presenter, Ashley Hayden; Mrs SA 2015 First Princess, Riana Mooi, Mrs SA 2015 Charity, Talita Jansen van Vuuren and Mrs SA 2015, Sarah-Kate Scott.

Also in attendance was Emperors Palace GM: Hotel and Resorts, Wayne Hill of Bruma and Peermont Corporate Affairs & CSI Executive, Vusi Zwane of Bryanston and businesswoman, Juanita Mitchell & Mandy Leisher of Bassonia and Esti Lindner, CANSA.

Attend our ‘Pink High Tea’ – R10 per person, attending each High Tea will be donated to CANSA throughout October, at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa and The Oyster Box, in order to help raise awareness re Breast Cancer.

One lucky guest will win a Carrol Boyes Breast Cancer Pendant in a lucky draw, at the end of the month, at each property.

Indulge in a selection of pink-themed treats such as Red wine pâte de fruits, Forest berry cheesecake, Ruby grapefruit cupcakes, Cream puffs topped with pink chocolate and Strawberry mousse, served alongside freshly baked Scones with fresh cream and the finest selection of fragrant teas and coffees.

Our resident cat, Skabenga, at the Oyster Box Hotel in Durban is helping CANSA to raise awareness re breast cancer! Skabenga will be wearing a diamante encrusted pink collar during October.

Don’t forget that for the whole month of October, our High Tea will be pink themed in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and R10 per person attending High Tea will be donated to CANSA.

City Lodge has been partnering with CANSA for 15 years.

For each cup of coffee sold in all Road, Town & City Lodges countrywide, half the cost is donated to our Cuppa For CANSA Campaign.

2014 Donation:

From June 2013 to June 2014, and approximately 47 500 cups of coffee later, City Lodge has raised R166 500 for CANSA.

Thank you City Lodge – thanks to your partnership CANSA can contine to provide holistic care & support to those affected by cancer.

About City Lodge Partnership with CANSA:

This takes to R1.3 million the amount the City Lodge Hotel Group has donated to CANSA through its long-running “Cuppa for CANSA” campaign since 2001.

Promoting Awareness re Warning Signs Childhood Cancer

Africa’s largest retailer is supporting the Cuppa For CANSA Campaign, as it can play an important role in helping especially young cancer survivors cope with cancer. Together with CANSA, Shoprite Checkers produced a customer information leaflet that provides an overview of childhood cancer warning signs to help create awareness.

Leaflets are also available at CANSA Care Centres & at the consumer boards in Checkers, Checkers Hyper and Shoprite stores countrywide.

Long Standing Support for Cuppa For CANSA

Shoprite and Checkers have also donated R75 000 to the Cuppa For CANSA Campaign each year for the last three years and provide all campaign materials nationally.

With the help of Shoprite and Checkers, Cuppa For CANSA raised over R2.7million during the 2013 campaign alone, of which more than R780 000 was raised in-store through the generous contributions of South Africans. CANSA thanks them for their generosity!

The Shoprite Group participated in CANSA Cuppa launches that took place at CANSA Tipuana Care Home in Pretoria, CANSA Tygerberg Care Home in Cape Town, CANSA Strelitzia Care Home in Port Elizabeth, CANSA Katleho Care Home in Bloemfontein,  and CANSA Mkhuhla Care Home in Durban, where they handed over a cheque of R15000 to each home. For a donation of R5 or more, consumers can get a piece of cake and a cup of tea at any of the Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores nationwide for an in-store Cuppa For CANSA, during the month of June. Each store will host up to 2 Cuppas in the month of June to raise funds.
